Vegas After Dark's Review 08/20/02:

I visited Club Platinum a year or so ago when it used to be called The Tender Trap. Since then, the club has undergone a total makeover. The building is quite small and that hasn't changed. Although they haven't expanded the club, they have spruced it up quite a bit. The main stage that used to dominate the floor space has been replaced by a smaller stage against the East wall. The bar area on the north side of the building hasn't changed. The interior has been redone in a darker and more comfortable decor. Nice comfy bucket chairs and tables with small lamps providing intimate lighting have replaced the older shabbier stuff. Three built in couches line the south wall for lap dances. They also added 3 small semi-private lap dance rooms that remind me of office cubicles along the West wall. Overall the place is much better looking and uses its limited space better.
Another change is in the drink prices. They went up to major club levels which are way too high for a small joint like this. Drinks used to be very reasonable and the place was usually pretty full of working class guys. Maybe the high drink prices explain why they were so slow on a Friday evening. While I was there, the place never had more than a dozen guys in it. That's not always a bad thing in my opinion because slow nights usually get you more attention from the girls. For some reason that theory wasn't working too well that night as I was pretty much ignored by all the girls except the waitress. Most of the girls seemed content to hang out at the bar and chat with each other. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing either considering most of the girls weren't particularly attractive in my opinion. Small clubs like this usually have a hard time attracting the really hot girls. Most of the 8 or so girls on the floor were either chubby or flat chested types, not unattractive, but certainly not head turners. There was one very hot girl in the place, but she wouldn't give me the time of day. I certainly wasn't going to chase after her, especially in a place like this. After a while one girl did sit down next to me and asked me to buy her a drink. I agreed, and she ordered a glass of wine. When the drink arrived, she excused herself saying she'd be right back. She then proceeded to the bar where she sipped her drink while talking to another guy. She didn't come back. I was so pissed. That was another instance that I should have complained to the manager, but I didn't. The chick's name was Valerie, so avoid her if you meet her. I did end up getting one lap dance from a girl who was nice enough to spend some time with me. She wasn't my type, she was covered in biker tattoos, but I figured what the hell, she was nice at least.
Overall, the place looks much nicer after the renovations. It could be a great little locals club if it were run right. The problem with the girls is just bad management. A good floor man should make sure the girls treat the customers right. I wouldn't recommend visiting Club Platinum. There are so many other good clubs in town where your hard earned money will buy you a much better time.
